We are recruiting for a Junior Sous Chef to join The New Moon. This is a full time role with an immediate start. Weekends are rotational throughout the month as our busiest sessions are Tuesday to Thursday.
As the Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.
This is a great opportunity for progression and you will be working closely with our Head Chef Salim. Salim has been working in the industry for over 20 years and has created menus for a similar project in the past. This went on to pick up awards within the industry.
Duties
Assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and managing staff.
Supervise food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and quality.
Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen activities.
Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and manage food costs effectively.
Ensure that all dishes are prepared according to recipes and presentation standards.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
Requirements
Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
Strong supervisory skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
Excellent cooking skills with a passion for creating innovative dishes.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with team members.
