We have an exciting job opportunity at our busy and friendly Kennels & Cattery in Wickford, Essex. Tudor Lodge Kennels is a family run business operating for more than 15 years. We are looking for a candidate that is committed and passionate about caring for and working with all breads of cats and dogs.
Hours:
8.00am to 3.00pm Saturday and Sunday. We are looking for a person to complement existing staff members and ensure the kennels are covered 7 days a week between the team. Additional hours/days available during busy times including summer.
Main Duties
An average day at the Kennels & Cattery involves:
Managing the opening/closing of the kennels and cattery
Cleaning out the kennels and cattery and general areas
Ensuring that all pets are fed the appropriate diets and water is available at all times.
Keeping the animals clean at all times
Administering medication in accordance with protocols
Exercising the dogs
Bathing the dogs where necessary
Greeting clients, checking paperwork and leading new client viewings
Undertaking office administration paperwork
Supporting the owner in ensuring procedure and protocols are adhered to throughout the kennels
Managing the Kennels and Cattery in the absence of the owner
Covering staff days off
Other miscellaneous duties as required
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience of working in an animal boarding establishment is preferred.
For insurance purposes, successful candidate must be 18 or over due to possible lone working on occasions.
Must have a Level 2 or 3 animal qualification or be working towards it. If you dont hold an animal qualification, but have relevant experience or knowledge, you must agree to sign up to additional paid training with us.
Confident with dog handling and knowledge of dog and cat behaviour
The ability to cope with the physical demands of the job
Calm under pressure
Good observational skills to notice changes in animal behaviour
Responsible and reliable with good organisation skills
Positive attitude
Experience of dealing with the public
Good telephone manner
Strong people and communication skills
Must live no more than 15-30mins away with the ability to arrive to work on time
