We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong commitment to providing excellent service to both our furry clients and their owners. This role involves working closely in a team with animals (Dogs and Cats), in a kennel environment, ensuring their well-being and comfort while maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the facility.
Living locally and being able to drive is preferred.
Responsibilities
Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs and cats.
To prepare feeds and water according to dietary and medical requirements.
To bath and pamper resident dogs where necessary. Weigh all animals and perform health checks as required by procedures, in order to maintain the health and welfare of the pets.
Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common spaces to ensure a hygienic environment.
To carry out and record regular physical examinations of dogs and cats, administering minor treatment where necessary and report to the Kennel Manager with any health concerns of any of the boarders.
To fulfil animal enrichment duties including walking the dogs in our allocated space and to provide adequate stimulation for all animals.
Maintain an environment that meets the needs of the dogs and cats to ensure minimum levels of stress whilst boarding.
To maintain individual dog and cat records of feeding and toileting habits so that regular and accurate reports are available and successfully uploaded to revelation pets.
To undertake evening and weekend duties as required by the Proprietor.
To assist with additional duties such as supervising new members of staff or helping in the reception with front of house duties.
To have strong communication skills and a calm, patient manner when dealing with the customers, other members of staff and animals. Keeping a professional manner at all times. Assist with customer service duties, including greeting pet owners and providing information about services offered.
Handle heavy lifting when moving supplies or assisting with larger animals.
Follow all safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both animals and staff.
Requirements
Strong background in animal care, demonstrating a genuine love for animals.
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners.
Capability to perform heavy lifting as required in the role.
