Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our privately run kennel of St Bernard dogs.
The rota allows for four days on one week, and two days on the next week, with an average total of 35-40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Assist with the daily care and love of 16 St Bernard dogs The working day is from 7.30am to 5pm with lunch hour and two breaks Occasional 8pm shutting in required (usually one evening per fortnight) Feed, water, and monitor animals' health and behaviour Daily grooming and walking of dogs on a rota basis Clean and disinfect kennels and runs, equipment, and work areas to ensure hygiene standards are maintained Taking dogs to vet appointments - car driver and car owner essential Taking in on-site deliveries of dog food and equipment Monitoring supplies of dog food and alerting owner when more needs to be ordered Cover for second kennel assistant when needed as agreed between yourselves Handle animals gently and confidently, ensuring their safety and comfort

Skills

Previous experience animal care is advantageous but not essential A genuine love of dogs An understanding of animal behaviour or willingness to learn Happy to work in all weathers in a physical job Reliable timekeeping and a good work ethic Organised with attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness standards Reliable team player with a compassionate approach towards animals and clients

Pay: 12.21 per hour
