Kennels Supervisor
to oversee the daily operations of our kennels and support the wellbeing of both animals and staff at its main kennel facility in Glencaple near Dumfries.

Every pawprint matters -- and that starts with a kennel team devoted to their care. At Glencaple, our centre provides shelter, enrichment, and hope to dogs in transition.
Role Summary
As Kennels Supervisor, you'll be responsible for:
Supervising and mentoring a team of Animal Care Assistants and volunteers
Coordinating rotas and staff leave, ensuring smooth daily operations
Overseeing routines including feeding, cleaning, training, and enrichment
Supporting rehoming of the dogs in our care
Monitoring animal welfare and implementing behaviour and medical plans
Managing health & safety, infection control, and policy compliance
Liaising with the Chief Executive and other key staff for operational and strategic improvements
Supporting budget planning and tracking expenditure
Maintaining accurate records and supporting training initiatives
What You Bring
Essential:
Experience supervising animal care
Strong team leadership, problem solving, and organisational skills
Confident dog handler across all temperaments and breeds
Emotionally resilient and compassionate
IT proficiency, especially databases and Microsoft Office
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Experience with rescue and rehoming
Relevant Ofqual accredited animal care qualification (Level 2/3 or higher)
Understanding of canine behaviour and training
First aid training (animal & human)
Leadership experience or training
