After a career change? Support Worker (Trainee/Bank Staff) - Guaranteed Real Living Wage
No Social Care Experience Needed. We Hire Resilient, Proactive Problem-Solvers.
About TIFA Life
TIFA Life is a rapidly expanding, quality-focused provider of specialist supported accommodation for vulnerable young people (UASC and high-needs care leavers) across South Wales. We are growing fast because our model focuses on relational stability and preventing placement breakdown.
Our Ethos: We don't hire CVs; we hire genuine people with excellent character, a great work ethic, and a practical approach. If you are reliable, resilient, and ready for a meaningful career change, we provide all the training you need.
The Opportunity: Key Worker / Support Worker
This is a demanding but deeply rewarding role working one-to-one with young people (aged 16+) to help them build life skills, manage their trauma history, and transition successfully to independence.
Role Type: Bank/Zero Hours Contract. (You determine your availability. We offer consistent work, including evenings, nights, and weekends, due to high demand.)
Your Mission: To be the consistent, trusted adult who provides stability, structure, and positive influence.
We Need Your Transferable Skills (The TIFA Trait):
We are specifically targeting the initiative and resilience learned in sectors like trades, retail, and hospitality:
| Your Previous Experience | Skills We Value and Why |
| Trades, Maintenance, Labourer | Proactivity & Initiative: You actively look for tasks. You will use your initiative to identify maintenance needs, seek out resources, and maximise shift time rather than waiting to be told what to do.
| Hospitality, Bar Work, Security | Resilience & De-escalation: You remain calm and professional under pressure, can manage difficult public interactions, and handle conflict with composure (essential for Trauma-Informed Care).
| Retail, Customer Service | Authenticity & Empathy: You are genuine, can build immediate trust, and have the patience required to support complex young people over time. |
The TIFA Life Employee Value Proposition (Our Offer to You)
Guaranteed Ethical Pay: We are committed to paying the Real Living Wage (not just the statutory minimum), recognising the value of your work and aiming for excellent staff retention.
Specialist Certification: Full, paid enrolment in our Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) Foundation Course providing you with certified, advanced skills in relational stability and restorative practice.
Unique Community Asset: You will actively utilise our integrated Community Cafe (CIC)--a safe, neutral community hub that provides opportunities for practical skill development and vocational experience for young people (e.g., hospitality, budgeting).
Career Development: Clear pathways to specialised Key Worker roles and management, with ongoing support and professional development.
Mandatory Requirements (Safeguarding)
Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the UK and committed to our values (we hire for attitude, not paper qualifications).
DBS Check: You must be eligible to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Children's Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. (TIFA Life will process this for you upon conditional offer).
Availability: Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts (where required).
Don't wait for the perfect CV--we want the perfect person.
