Kitchen Assistant
Reports to: Cafe Bar Manager
Hours: 15 to 30 per week. 5 hour shifts generally 10am to 3pm
Rate: 12.60 to 13.00 per hour including paid breaks and food
The Birks Cinema is an ambitious outward-looking community enterprise in the heart of Aberfeldy in rural Perthshire. A world class independent cinema programme will always be at the heart of what the building offers to its community and visitors.
The cinema incorporates a cafe split over two levels that offers cinema snacks, refreshments, lunch and evening meals. Our additional focus is to improve the lives and wellbeing of the community we serve by providing a social hub and space for local groups to run activities.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a cafe or similar environment but the main criteria is that the successful applicant must be enthusiastic and committed to providing excellent customer service.
We also welcome people who are passionate about food and films and willing to contribute ideas. This role would suit a person with a flexible approach and a cheerful 'can-do' attitude.
Purpose
This role involves the performance of various kitchen duties such as basic food preparation and cooking as well as assisting colleagues and the Cafe Bar Manager in the day-to-day activities involved in an efficient kitchen
Responsibilities
? Food preparation, including prepping vegetables and boxed sandwiches
? Light food cooking duties such as making soups, light breakfast and lunchtime dishes such as breakfast rolls, soup, toasted paninis, jacket potatoes.
? Complete food wastage record sheet and any other kitchen documentation to standard and as required or directed.
? Ensure full awareness of allergy information in everything served in order to pass this information to the cafe team.
? Ensure a clean and tidy workplace at all times.
? Compliance with all health and hygiene procedures and standards.
? As needed, selling tickets for a wide range of films/events/food/beverages at our till counter and serving food and beverages in a busy cafe environment.
