- Kitchen Assistant

Role Overview

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Assistant / Kitchen Porter to join our team. This role is vital in keeping the kitchen running smoothly -- from maintaining cleanliness and washing up to assisting chefs with basic food preparation. You will play a key part in ensuring the kitchen is safe, organised, and operating to the highest standards of hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

Wash pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment to a high standard. Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including floors, surfaces, and storage. Support chefs with basic food preparation (e.g., chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients). Unload deliveries and help with correct storage and stock rotation (FIFO). Dispose of rubbish, recycling, and food waste safely. Ensure cleaning schedules and hygiene standards are followed at all times. Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Head Chef / Manager. Assist the team during busy service periods with ad-hoc tasks.

Requirements

Previous kitchen or porter experience. Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail. Physically fit and able to lift, carry, and be on your feet for long periods. Flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends. Team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
