About the Role



We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Manager to join our dedicated team in our Care Home. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong culinary background and proven leadership skills to take on a vital role in a caring, homely, and resident-focused environment.

As the Kitchen Manager, you will oversee all aspects of our kitchen's daily operations, ensuring the preparation and delivery of nutritious, well-balanced, and appetising meals that meet residents' individual dietary requirements and preferences. You will lead and support a team of cooks and kitchen assistants, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, hygiene, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities



Lead, motivate, and supervise the kitchen team, providing clear direction, training, and ongoing development opportunities. Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily kitchen operations to ensure meals are prepared and served to consistently high standards. Manage all food safety and compliance requirements, including Safe Food Better Business, risk assessments, and kitchen audits. Maintain an accurate and efficient stock control system, including ordering, rotation, and cost management to reduce waste and remain within budget. Ensure all meals are nutritionally balanced, prepared according to managers' recipes, and aligned with dietary needs, allergen information, and cultural preferences. Keep the allergen list updated and ensure staff are aware of and follow all allergen procedures. Conduct annual appraisals, refreshers, and observations for all kitchen team members, promoting professional growth and consistent standards. Ensure compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and training requirements for the kitchen team. Collaborate closely with care and nursing staff to support residents' individual nutritional and hydration needs. Maintain kitchen hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring that all food preparation and storage areas exceed health and safety expectations. Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring regular servicing, safe use, and timely reporting of faults. Support staff rostering and absence cover, working with management to ensure sufficient kitchen coverage during annual leave or sickness. Lead by example, fostering a positive, respectful, and efficient working environment built on teamwork, integrity, and pride.

About You



Proven experience in a kitchen supervisory or management role, ideally within a care, healthcare, or hospitality environment. Strong working knowledge of food hygiene, kitchen audits, and health & safety procedures. Level 2 or 3 Food Safety qualification (or equivalent) - essential. Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills. A caring, approachable attitude and genuine passion for providing high-quality food and service to residents. Flexibility to work occasional longer shifts (e.g. 07:00-18:00) to cover leave or absence when required.

Hours & Shifts



Permanent position: 31 contractual hours per week Shift pattern: 4 on / 4 off Typical shifts: 06:30-15:30 or 09:00-18:00 Flexibility required for additional cover when needed
