The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that the kitchen is clean, organised, and well-equipped for food preparation. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in the culinary field within a restaurant or hotel setting.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation tasks as needed. Ensure that all kitchen supplies are stocked and readily available for use. Dispose of waste properly and maintain hygiene standards in compliance with health regulations. Support the kitchen team during service periods by helping with basic food assembly and plating. Follow all safety and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Assist with receiving deliveries and storing food items appropriately.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a culinary or hospitality role is preferred but not essential; a willingness to learn is key. Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen environment. Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices. A passion for food and the hospitality industry is highly desirable. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform manual handling tasks.
