About us

Borthwick castle is an incomparable 15th Century Scottish keep - the only one of its ilk in private hands across all of Europe. It is now the most stunning of venues, complete with 12 bed chambers and room for 85 guests, available for exclusive private hire.
Exclusive hire includes three magnificent public rooms: The Garrison, The State Room and The Great Hall which can be used for ceremonies, receptions, dining, dancing and activities.
For events, the maximum number of guests in the public rooms is 85.
The Castle has 10 elegant bed chambers sleeping up to 20 guests and, next to the castle, Crookston Cottage which can sleep a further 4 guests and the newly refurbished Gatehouse can sleep 2 guests.

The role

Borthwick Has an excellent team of individuals at the core of it's operations. They are fun to work with, kind and caring. You will join the small but highly motivated kitchen team to help deliver food that meets the exceptional standards that our reputation has earned. Generally banquet style dining with events commonly ranging from 20 people to 85 people.

The roll includes:
- Assist the kitchen team in keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy as per Food Safety Standards and Health and Safety Standards.

- Ensure that all necessary equipment is prepared for the team.

- Ensure that all cutlery, crockery and any kitchen equipment is kept clean by using the Industrial dishwasher.

- Variety in shift patterns. Non-event days are generally dayshift. Event days can be longer hours to cover a mix of breakfast, lunch dinner and buffets. This role provides an excellent life/work balance, superior to the vast majority of hospitality venues.

Requirements

Be able to work at speed and under high pressure situations whilst maintaining a calm demeanour
Driven and well-motivated, able to work alone and well with others.

Job Types: 28-32 hours depending on candidate preferences. We want to be flexible and work with candidate preferences.

Salary: 12.21 p/h plus tips and bonuses

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 28 - 32 per week
