Job Summary

Barang are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic kitchen team in the heart of Borough Market.

This is a full-time role offered on a fixed term contract from mid-November to 29th March 2026.

However there are plans for us to transfer straight over to a permanent site in April 2026, and we'd love to take passionate, strong people with us on our journey.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation and service. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced culinary setting.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, and utensils. Assist with basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables. Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use. Help manage stock levels by reporting any shortages or issues to the kitchen management. Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.

Skills

Previous experience in a fast paced restaurant/kitchen is preferred. Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. A keen interest in culinary arts and hospitality. Excellent teamwork abilities, with a positive attitude towards learning from others. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
