A reliable and diligent

Kitchen Porter (KP)

is the essential backbone of our culinary team at our brand-new

restaurant

at the iconic Queen of Hoxton, Shoreditch. You will be fundamental in ensuring our back-of-house operations run smoothly, safely, and to the highest standard of hygiene.

BARBS is a fast-growing UK-based food brand bringing the bold, authentic flavours of Barbados to East London. This role is ideal for an energetic, dedicated team player who understands that efficiency and cleanliness are non-negotiable in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. You will directly support the chefs, ensuring they have the equipment and space needed to deliver the quality and flavour that BARBS is known for.

Schedule



Hours:

25.5 hours per week (3 x 8.5-hour shifts, including a paid break).

Days:

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Shift Times:

1:00 PM - 9:300 PM

Responsibilities



Hygiene & Sanitation:

Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness across all kitchen areas, including floors, work surfaces, equipment, and storage rooms, strictly following daily and deep cleaning schedules.

Washing & Ware-Washing:

Operate the pot-wash and dishwashing stations efficiently, ensuring a continuous, sanitised supply of crockery, cutlery, and cooking equipment is available for service.

Food Safety Compliance:

Adhere strictly to all BARBS food safety procedures and the company's Food Safety Management System (e.g., HACCP/SFBB checks) at all times.

Deliveries & Storage:

Assist the team with receiving and accurately storing deliveries, ensuring all stock is rotated correctly (FIFO) and is put away promptly to maintain safety and quality.

Waste Management:

Efficiently manage and dispose of all kitchen waste, including general waste, recycling, and food scraps, in line with BARBS' waste hierarchy and environmental policies.

Basic Kitchen Support:

Provide prompt assistance to the chefs with simple, non-skilled preparation tasks (e.g., basic vegetable prep) as directed, while always maintaining a clean and clear workstation.

Qualifications



A strong, proven work ethic, excellent reliability, and a proactive, 'can-do' approach. Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Physical stamina and ability to handle manual tasks, including lifting and moving stock. Basic understanding of food hygiene and health & safety principles is a strong advantage. Level 1 or 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon starting). Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions quickly and accurately. Right to work in the UK (required).

Pay: 12.85 per hour
