Role Overview
We are looking for a hardworking and reliable
Kitchen Porter
to join our kitchen team. You will play a vital role in supporting our chefs by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation within the kitchen. This is an entry-level position and an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to be part of a professional kitchen brigade.
As a Kitchen Porter, you will help ensure the kitchen operates smoothly by keeping all areas clean and sanitised, supporting basic food preparation when required, and adhering to strict health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen areas, including work surfaces, sinks, walls, and equipment.
Wash pots, pans, utensils, and cutlery efficiently to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Sweep and mop kitchen floors at the beginning and end of shifts, and as required during service.
Clean up spills promptly to prevent hazards and disruptions during service.
Assist with deliveries, including unloading, checking, and correctly storing supplies.
Keep food storage areas organised and ensure proper stock rotation.
Dispose of waste and recycling in line with company procedures.
Support chefs with basic food preparation tasks when required.
Follow all food hygiene, health & safety, and HACCP procedures at all times.
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure service runs efficiently.
Requirements
No previous experience required; full training will be provided.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to work well as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment.
Good time management and attention to cleanliness and detail.
Ability to work under pressure and follow instructions.
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Knowledge of food hygiene and safety is desirable but not essential.
Working Conditions
Standing for long periods and carrying out repetitive cleaning tasks.
Handling kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and heavy items.
Working shifts may include early starts, late finishes, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota basis.
Fast-paced environment, particularly during peak service times.
Uniform and meals on duty are provided.
Strict adherence to hygiene, health & safety, and food safety standards is required at all times.
Flexibility to support different kitchen areas when needed.
