We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our busy culinary team. This role is vital in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen environment, ensuring smooth daily operations. The successful candidate will support food preparation and assist kitchen staff, contributing to a high standard of hygiene and service within our establishment. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional kitchen environment.
Duties
Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including cleaning vegetables and organising ingredients.
Support the kitchen team with general cleaning duties, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils to maintain hygiene standards.
Help with the organisation and storage of supplies and ingredients to ensure efficient workflow.
Ensure all work areas are kept clean and tidy throughout the shift.
Support the safe handling and disposal of waste materials in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Assist with setting up dining areas and clearing tables when required, supporting the serving staff during busy periods.
Follow all health and safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications
Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is more important.
Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and basic food safety practices is advantageous.
Experience working in a restaurant, hotel, or similar hospitality environment is beneficial.
Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to undertake training and develop culinary skills.
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary.
