Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is essential in ensuring smooth daily operations within our restaurant or hotel setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with basic food preparation, cleaning duties, and supporting kitchen staff to uphold high standards of hygiene and safety. Previous experience in a hospitality or culinary environment is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within the hospitality industry.

Duties

Wash, dry, and store crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils efficiently Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and kitchen equipment throughout shifts Support the kitchen team during busy service periods by ensuring supplies are readily available Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure recycling protocols are followed Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations Follow health and safety regulations diligently to maintain a safe working environment Assist with organising storage areas to optimise space utilisation

Skills

Basic understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques is desirable Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is beneficial but not essential Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and safety procedures Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team Good organisational skills with attention to detail Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities during busy service times Strong work ethic with a positive attitude towards learning and development
