To support the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen at The Gibside Hotel by maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, washing and sanitising dishes and equipment, and assisting the chefs with basic food preparation and kitchen organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Hygiene
Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils promptly and thoroughly using the dishwasher and by hand when required.
Keep all kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment clean and sanitised at all times.
Empty bins, dispose of waste safely, and ensure recycling procedures are followed.
Maintain cleanliness in storage, fridge, and freezer areas.
Follow all hygiene, food safety, and health & safety regulations at all times.
Kitchen Support
Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
Restock kitchen stations with clean crockery, cutlery, and equipment.
Help with deliveries -- unpacking, checking, and storing supplies correctly.
Support with setting up and closing down the kitchen before and after service.
Teamwork & Attitude
Work efficiently and cooperatively with chefs, front of house staff, and management.
Maintain a positive, can-do attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Take pride in keeping the kitchen running smoothly behind the scenes.
