Kitchen Porter/Assistant

We are looking for a part-time Kitchen Porter/Assistant for a small trattoria-style Italian restaurant in the Angel/Barbican area. The hours needed are:

Monday- Friday 11-3, and Sat 4pm-10pm. For our small kitchen, we are looking for someone who is hard-working, diligent, and organised. The candidate should be a friendly person with clear communication and able to work in a team.

The role requires

washing dishes and equipment maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen assisting the chef with food preparation complying with Health and Safety standards

Responsibilities

Wash, clean, and sanitise dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients Support the kitchen team during busy service periods by ensuring a steady supply of clean equipment and utensils Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations Help with organisation of stock and supplies in the kitchen storeroom Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure recycling procedures are followed Support the overall cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment to facilitate efficient operations

Skills

Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is advantageous but not essential Knowledge of food preparation and basic cooking techniques is desirable Familiarity with kitchen safety and hygiene standards Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team Good organisational skills with attention to detail Willingness to learn new skills within a fast-paced environment Strong work ethic with reliability and punctuality
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 26 - 33 per week
