We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter (KP) to join our dynamic team. The KP plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the kitchen environment, ensuring that all food preparation areas are well-organised and hygienic. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food and hospitality, and who thrive in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
Responsibilities
Assist with food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to ensure a safe working environment.
Support chefs and kitchen staff by providing necessary ingredients and tools during service.
Operate dishwashing machines and ensure all dishes are cleaned, dried, and stored properly.
Dispose of waste in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Help with stock rotation and inventory management to minimise waste.
Assist in maintaining a well-organised kitchen by ensuring all items are stored correctly.
Skills
Previous experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen is highly desirable.
Basic cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
A keen interest in culinary arts and hospitality.
Ability to work as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with kitchen staff.
