The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
Lab Assistant
for an initial 3-month contract (with potential for extension). You'll play a vital role in running our Figura Analyser, processing liquid samples, and providing feedback to optimise both device operation and SOPs.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyse a variety of liquid samples using the Figura Analyser
Strictly follow established SOPs for sample handling, instrument operation, and data management
Record and track sample data, maintaining an organised and tidy workspace
Provide constructive feedback on instrument performance, workflow efficiency, and software usability
Assist with routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment
Collaborate with R&D and operations teams to troubleshoot issues and suggest process improvements
Maintain clear, up-to-date logs and reports of all laboratory activities
What We're Looking For
Some hands-on experience working with scientific or analytical equipment (e.g., spectrophotometers, chromatography, microbiology assays)
Minimum of 1-2 years work experience
Strong ability to learn new techniques and software applications quickly
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills--able to manage multiple samples without error
Proactive mindset: you notice areas for improvement and aren't afraid to speak up
Clear, professional communication and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Strong record-keeping skills and comfort following, evaluating, and refining SOPs
Desirable
Previous experience within a scientific environment
Basic understanding of microbiology principles
