Our Lab located on Feeder Road in Bristol has an urgent need for a
Laboratory Administrator
who will provide administrative support to the Laboratory Manager and staff in the onshore laboratory office.
The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, proficiency in MS Office (in particular MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint) effective communication skills, resilience, and adaptability. You will also be responsible for maintaining adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies, and acts as the first point of contact for suppliers, clients, and staff.
What you'll do:
Run the day-to-day operations of the Laboratory Office.
Ensure that all visitors are welcomed and inducted into the building.
Create projects using the laboratory information management system.
Log and communicate test schedule changes throughout the duration of projects.
Liaise with Geoquip Marine offices worldwide and other UK locations.
Track and log incoming test data.
Output and print test reports for review by laboratory management.
Act as the first point of contact for suppliers, couriers, clients, and engineers.
Raise purchase orders, ordering equipment, and organising logistics.
Handle invoices and payments.
Track and logging health and safety metrics.
Manage key fob access for all staff.
Provide regular updates to the contracts coordinator regarding test progress.
Maintain and updating laboratory databases and digital records to ensure data accuracy and security.
Coordinate with internal teams to facilitate smooth communication and efficient workflow.
Identify and suggest process improvements to optimise administrative operations and enhance laboratory efficiency.
Provide support during audits or quality control assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and laboratory protocols.
Assist in training new administrative staff on laboratory processes and systems when required.
Perform any other duties necessary within the scope of the incumbent's competence and function.
Who We're Looking For
:
Sufficient Administration experience is essential
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
Good MS Office skills - in particular MS Excel and able to collate and print reports and Word & PowerPoint to share data and visual information to internal teams.
Any prior experience in a Geotechnical or Science Laboratory would be a bonus
