The Hereford operation is the major UK production facility in the Special Metals group and now has exciting opportunities for Laboratory Machinist x 3 at our IncoTest laboratories at the Hereford site.

This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic individuals who have a passion for engineering machining and experience with a variety of engineering tools & equipment - lathes, saws, grinders, milling machines, hand tools, callipers/ vernier gauges etc. Ideally practical by nature with a technical/ mechanical mindset.

You must be able and available to work shifts (6-2/2-10/10-6 rotating weekly).



Essential Role Functions:



Tests and processes a variety of alloys, raw materials and other industrial samples by standard procedures, observes established practices and maintains standards of accuracy specified. Operates, relative to above, in manual or computer controlled mode as appropriate, any of the equipment in the assigned area. Observes, interprets, calculates and reports results of tests in the assigned area. Operates computer terminals and manual clerical systems, as appropriate, to enter and monitor sample information and results and informs local supervision of abnormal results and trends. Performs standard checks, routine maintenance, calibration and other general servicing tasks associated with the equipment used, as laid down in Standard Laboratory Testing Procedures. Reports faults to local supervision and advises where expert maintenance is necessary. Maintains close liaison with Manufacturing and Materials Departments and gives priority to urgent requirements, within the general guidance provided by local supervision. Liaises with external inspection authorities to demonstrate and perform tests in connection with Production and Contract testing requirements. Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff and in particular assists staff working in the area on an infrequent basis. Performs, after satisfactory training, testing in other areas of the laboratory according to standard procedures. Keeps accurate records of work completed and collates information from these records as required by local management. Assists in maintaining continuity of operations in the absence of local supervision, e.g. by responding to priorities and release of test results. Maintains good housekeeping and adheres strictly to current safety regulations.

Education/ Qualification/ Experience:



Experience of using engineering equipment lathes, saws, grinders, milling machines, hand tools, callipers/ vernier gauges etc essential. Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and customer requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Strong focus of Health and Safety in the workplace. Ability to learn, follow and refine procedures. High level of numeracy and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
