Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Laboratory Manager to oversee daily laboratory operations within our friendly team in Crediton. As a key member of the technical team, you will ensure a high level of technical integrity is maintained regarding product safety, legality and quality. You will support other departments to ensure the site is audit ready at all times. You will be responsible for the management of lab technicians and provide daily operational support for both the chemistry and microbiology laboratories.

Normal working days for this role are Monday to Friday, with some flexibility around hours required including weekend cover.

Laboratory Manager Responsibilities

Supervising and carrying out daily sampling / testing routines in both Chemistry and Microbiology labs Ensure weekly and monthly laboratory calibration duties to Laboratory Accreditation standards and record appropriately Support product positive release duties to ensure timely release of products on completion of satisfactory testing Ensure all technical procedures are managed to complement and support an efficient operational model Ensure technical audit compliance to internal, external, legal and customer standards. Deliver against an internal plan to ensure standards are maintained at all times and the site is audit ready Identify and implement technical improvements across site operations, through the proactive management of Non-Conformance and Corrective Action procedures

Laboratory Manager Requirements Include

Significant experience working in a Chemistry and Microbiology Lab Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Food Science, Microbiology) Knowledge of BRC requirements Demonstratable experience in supporting successful audits and following through actions to completion Extensive technical experience within a chilled food business Experience in Quality Management Software Systems Level 3 HACCP and Food Hygiene certified Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office packages Ability to prioritise and manage own workload, ensure targets are achieved in a fast-moving environment subject to change Problem solving and analytical skills
