About the Role



We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

Laboratory Manager

to oversee the operations of our

construction materials testing laboratory

, specializing in

soil, concrete, and asphalt

. This leadership position ensures all testing activities meet required quality standards, project specifications, and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, organizational leadership, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities



Manage daily operations of the

materials testing laboratory

, including staff supervision, scheduling, and workflow coordination. Ensure all testing procedures comply with

ASTM, AASHTO, and project-specific requirements

. Oversee and review

laboratory and field testing

on soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt materials. Train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory and field technicians. Review, verify, and approve test data and reports for accuracy and completeness. Maintain and calibrate all laboratory equipment in accordance with QA/QC procedures. Develop and implement

quality control programs

and maintain laboratory accreditation standards (e.g., CCIL, AASHTO, ISO 17025). Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to communicate test results and address technical issues. Monitor and enforce

safety procedures

, ensuring a safe work environment for all lab and field personnel. Assist in estimating, budgeting, and procurement for laboratory operations and supplies.

Qualifications



Required:



Diploma or degree in

Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Construction Technology

(or related discipline).

5-8 years of experience

in materials testing, including at least

2 years in a supervisory or management role

. In-depth knowledge of

ASTM and AASHTO

standards for soil, concrete, and asphalt testing. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in technical reporting and QA/QC documentation. Must hold CSCS card Must hold Full UK Driving License

Preferred:



Certifications such as

ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I

,

NICET Level III/IV

, or equivalent. Experience managing

lab accreditation programs

(CCIL, ISO 17025, or similar). Familiarity with

nuclear density testing, mix design, and compaction testing

. Strong computer skills, including data management and laboratory software systems.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 50,000.00-56,000.00 per year
