UKLST is seeking a highly skilled and fluent Latvian and English Interpreter to facilitate clear, accurate, and confidential communication between our English-speaking staff/clients and our Latvian-speaking stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring linguistic accessibility and cultural understanding across various professional settings.
Responsibilities
Provide accurate and complete interpretation (consecutive, simultaneous, or sight translation) between English and Latvian in professional settings, including meetings, interviews, conferences, and technical discussions.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical codes regarding all interpreted information.
Manage the flow of communication, ensuring that both parties fully comprehend the meaning, context, and intent of the messages being conveyed.
Adapt to varying registers, dialects, and subject matter quickly and efficiently, including specialized terminology (e.g., legal, medical, technical, or business terms).
Document interpretation activities and report any significant communication barriers or clarification needs.
Prepare terminology glossaries and references as necessary to ensure consistency and quality.
