What you'll do:




You will be responsible for the full development of the motor projects for design feasibility and design for manufacturing. This could include NPI or variants of launched products - from concepts through to detailed designs. Using standard CAD software, you will design and produce drawings of parts, components and assemblies, completing core activities such as function and tolerance stack analysis. You will ensure compliance with design practices / guidelines and other limiting factors such as clearances, tooling requirements (as well as creepage), and thoroughness with GD&T principles while detailing designs. You will assume ownership of the design function for the given project(s). This could include leading DFMEA, Design Feasibility, DFM, Design Reviews, BoM Management, Engineering Change Management, Configuration Management while ensuring data accuracy in PDM and ERP systems. You will be expected to engage with suppliers - existing and new - to introduce designs that are practical and cost effective while maintaining focus on the engineering trends developing in the supply chain. You will have a high engagement with material selection for design as well as embracing trends in advanced material engineering and advanced design technology. You will take ownership of Design Standards, Best Practices and Design Documentation. You will explore and implement methods and techniques to improve what we do at AEM, reducing non-value work. You are confident working on all aspects of the activities of the wider engineering teams as required.



We'd love you to have:




BEng degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, or other relevant discipline, or a demonstrable level of industrial experience in a relevant industry. Previous experience leading project work and coaching more junior engineers. A self-starting mindset, capable of working independently in a cross-functional team, and collaborating with other engineering teams. Have strong analytical skills, a good knowledge of mechanical design and analysis. Previous experience with industry-standard CAD software packages, Previous experience in powertrain, rotating machines, electric motor systems or engines is desirable. It would be advantageous if you have experience in DFMA, Product Risk Management, BoM management, configuration and SKU management.
