An exciting opportunity exists for a proven professional to join our vibrant team and become our next Lead Teacher of Sport. With a real passion and commitment for their subject, the Lead Teacher of Sport will be responsible for ensuring sport plays a huge part in the life of the school in contributing to the school's vision of providing a high quality and holistic education.

Our sport facilities include: a 3-G pitch, tennis courts, cricket field and a large sports hall, all within the grounds of the school.

With a thorough knowledge of the present Physical Education curriculum and a strong track record in achieving excellent team results, the Lead Teacher of Sport oversees the provision of Sport at all levels and the Schools many different sports teams including, cricket, hockey, and netball. Supporting the sports team to produce the best possible lessons that will inspire and challenge every pupil. The post holder will lead in the design of an engaging and challenging curriculum that inspires children to appreciate the different sports available and widen their knowledge of techniques, skills and rules.

To promote and co-ordinate the operation of sports teams across the school, monitoring and supporting the work of teachers to whom responsibility for one or more teams has been delegated, and ensuring that there are regular fixtures and training sessions each term, for each the main team sport. To inspire pupils to follow a healthy lifestyle and to take part in sport, ensuring that a high proportion of pupils are involved in team or other sports. To introduce new team sports into the curriculum and fixture list. To introduce and/or encourage minority team sports, arranging fixtures against other schools and leading or supporting the delivery of training activities in these sport To teach BTEC Sports, GCSE PE and physical education throughout the school. To organise sports tours . To organise sporting activities as part of the school's programme of holiday trips and expeditions To manage the awards system for sport, such as school colours, trophies, etc. To exploit opportunities for engaging pupils in sports activities beyond school, liaising with local clubs, county teams and national government bodies, as appropriate. To bring the outside world of sport into school, through visiting coaches or speakers or one-off events. To co-ordinate the use of the sports facilities for evening activity sessions delivered by boarding staff members on duty each evening. To manage health and safety, maintaining risk assessments for each sport and for each significant area, such as the swimming pool, fitness suite, etc. To liaise with the Bursar and the over any external users of school facilities, either in the evenings or during holidays. To manage the sports hall, the all-weather pitch, the sports field and other facilities, ensuring safety of all users and the maintenance of the facility, its fixtures and fittings and storage areas to a high standard, liaising with the school's maintenance department and grounds staff To maintain an inventory of sports equipment. To liaise with the Registrar and Head of Marketing to provide information for the school's website and any other marketing materials.
