Changing Futures Learning and Development Lead

Do you believing in improving systems and services for people who experience multiple disadvantages?

Second Step is the lead agency, in a partnership of organisations, chosen by Bristol City Council, to deliver the MHCLG Changing Futures programme in Bristol to support people experiencing multiple disadvantage, including discrimination, homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues, and contact with the criminal justice system.

The programme's aims are:

To improve the way that local systems and services work for people experiencing multiple disadvantage and who are traditionally not well served by services
To use the learning from this to influence future government programmes and policy

The focus of the programme is to drive lasting cultural and system change.

Co-production with people with lived experience of multiple disadvantage, partnership working, and embedding equality, diversity and inclusion are central throughout the programme.

We are recruiting a Learning and Development Lead to join our Changing Futures service. The learning and development lead will have responsibility for the development, coordination and delivery of a range of learning and development activities as part of the Changing Futures Programme.

This includes working collaboratively with system partners and people with lived experience to develop, deliver and embed My Team Around Me, Multiple Disadvantage and Trauma Informed training, capture programme learning at an individual, service and system levels. They will also support the MTAM Exchange groups to progress system change issues, capturing learning outcomes.

About the role

The role holder will work closely with Second Step and Bristol City to ensure learning and change resources are available and used beyond the programme, taking an active role facilitating learning forums with strategic leads and practitioners across health, criminal justice and social care services. This aims to improve the knowledge and understanding of the workforce, as well as facilitating spaces to drive system improvements.

This is a short-term role, to support a number of key deliverables over the final 9 months of the programme. We're happy to consider part-time hours and flexible work patterns to suit your preference. This role would suit people interested to take a temporary secondment from their current role.

Full details of this exciting opportunity can be found in the role profile.

This post is a fixed term position until 31/03/2026, in line with the current Changing Futures contract period.
