Job Description


Due to significant growth in vocational numbers for the Division of Health, Science and Education, we have an opportunity for a Lecturer in Applied Science to work as part of a dynamic team of industry specialists teaching science on a range of 16-19 vocational programmes.

Burnley College is a forward-thinking, commercially-minded, \xc2\xa3100million College within Lancashire, comprising five education and training brands, delivering further and higher education, apprenticeships, commercial training and adult learning programmes.

The College\'s Health, Science and Education division has a varied and growing provision including:

  • Further Education courses in T levels, Health Studies, Applied Sciences, Forensic and Criminal Investigation, Early Years and Education.
  • University courses in: Mental Health, Children Young People, Community and Social Care, Medical Biology and a range of Higher National Diplomas.
  • Apprenticeships in Pharmacy Service Skills, Supporting Teaching and Learning, Early Years, Horticulture and Laboratory Technicians.
  • Commercial courses in: Paediatric First Aid and Mental Health Training.
The successful candidate will possess a degree or equivalent level qualification in a science related subject, with the ability to teach at least one specialism in Chemistry, Physics and/or Biology. Substantial industry experience of working in a Scientific related field and experience of teaching in a further education context is desirable.

Ideally you will possess a PGCE or Certificate in Education. However, should you not have this, the College has an excellent Staff Development programme where a recognised teaching qualification can be gained within an agreed period.

The salary for this post is \xc2\xa330,016 - \xc2\xa335,819.
