The School of Architecture, Technology & Engineering prides itself on providing a welcoming, supportive and positive working environment as it is seeking to appoint a lecturer to join our vibrant team of Computer Science staff.

You will contribute to the design and teaching of the material / modules on Computer Science in general, as well as offering final year projects in this area. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality learning and teaching across all levels of Higher Education within the UK and internationally. The new appointee will be supported to gain an accredited UK teaching qualification.

In addition to teaching, our academic staff act as personal tutors to provide pastoral care to our students. The role requires listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues concerning students, appreciate individual students\' needs and circumstances, and refer students as appropriate to the specialist services that can provide further help.

In order to be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A relevant degree in computer science or a related discipline.
  • Experience and a broad knowledge and understanding of general-purpose programming and software development using Java, with in-depth experience in object-oriented programming, functional programming, software testing and operating system along with a knowledge of relevant regulations and code of practice.
  • The ability to contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in computer science and related areas.
  • A recognised Higher Education teaching qualification or relevant teaching experience or positive commitment to gaining HEA Fellowship within two years of joining
  • Evidence of research activities or funded research (such as publications, reports, articles) and/or consultancy / professional experience consummate with career stage.
Ideally you will also have a membership, or working towards the with relevant professional bodies.

The successful applicant will become a member of one of our research centres with access to world class laboratories and field equipment within the School.

This is a full-time post, however we welcome applications from candidates seeking job share.
