Job Description


The University of Reading is looking to recruit an experienced individual as Convenor & Lecturer in Economics, who can also teach Business & Management, to work in the International Study & Language Institute (ISLI) on their FHEQ Level 3 Foundation Year programmes.

The Foundation Year programmes focus on providing preparatory study and support for students intending to enter undergraduate education. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is experienced in teaching and supporting a large and diverse cohort of students, who can convene/co-ordinate a set of modules as required, can create engaging and effective lessons and materials, who has experience of formative and summative assessment design, and who is an all-round team player who is able to work in a collaborative environment. You will have:

  • A good undergraduate degree in Economics, Business, or relevant subject
  • Postgraduate qualification e.g., MA or M.Ed. or PhD in a relevant field (or equivalent)
  • A teaching qualification or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
  • Excellent knowledge of subject specialism (i.e., Economics and Business)
  • Experience of course design and delivery including blended/remote teaching techniques
  • Knowledge of UK higher education academic practices, values, and conventions
  • Knowledge and experience of FHEQ Level 3 teaching and curriculum of relevant subject areas
  • An active interest in one or more areas of teaching-related scholarship.
