Sandwell College is seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Public Services to join our dynamic team on a Fixed-Term basis for the duration of the academic year starting in the Summer of 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across Levels 1-3 of NCFE Public Services courses, as well as contribute to curriculum development, enrichment, and employability experiences for learners.
Responsibilities
As a Lecturer in Public Services, you will:Teach and assess across Levels 1 to 3 NCFE qualifications.
Design and deliver an interactive, engaging, and inclusive curriculum aligned with industry standards and student needs.
Support curriculum planning, course leadership, and personal tutoring.
Develop innovative learning materials and integrate digital tools (e.g., Moodle, ProMonitor) to enhance the student experience.
Coordinate and lead enrichment opportunities such as guest speakers, residential trips, and sporting or team-building activities.
Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies including social workers and employers.
Develop relevant work experience placements that align with student progression goals.
You will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to improving outcomes for all students and supporting the continuous improvement of teaching and learning within the department.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
To be successful in this role, you will have:A Level 5 qualification (or working towards one) in Public Services.
A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Certificate in Education, Level 5 Teaching).
Experience teaching Public Services and working with diverse student needs.
Strong classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
The ability to motivate and inspire learners using a range of teaching methods.
A proactive approach to developing work experience and external partnerships.
A commitment to equality, safeguarding, and inclusive education.
