Fixed Term Lecturer/Senior Lecturer BA Hons Games Art

38,394 - 56,292 pa (pro rata)

Fixed term one year contract / part time

About the Role

The BA (Hons) Games Art and FdA Games Art courses are part of the Digital Screen Arts subject area, situated within the Design & Digital Arts Department. The subject area, which includes BSc (Hons) Games Design, FdSc Games Technology, BA (Hons) Animation, and BA (Hons) Visual Effects Art, builds on an established track record of highly employable alumni with strong creative and academic abilities, to ensure students graduate with a unique combination of knowledge, skills and attributes aligned to the creative industries of the future.

As lecturer or senior lecturer in a 0.7 FTE role, you will be teaching 3.5 days-a-week on modules from both games art courses, developing students' passion for and aptitude in digital art for games production. You will be responsible for the planning and effective delivery of module content, working effectively with the games team to contribute creative and dynamic, learner-centred approaches to teaching and learning. The curriculum is designed to offer many course, module, and project-level collaborative opportunities requiring close working with the course leaders and subject area Principal Lecturer to maximise inter-disciplinary opportunities.

We are seeking someone with a passion for games art, primarily with skills in 3D in-game asset creation and additional 2D visual development skills. You will ideally have both academic and industry experience within the subject area, possessing wider contextual knowledge current to games and games-related industries. Please attach a portfolio/reel link to your work in your application.

Additionally, your experience and creativity will support students in pushing the boundaries of games art beyond typical or overused visual conventions, inspiring innovation to immerse, engage, and entertain a new generation of players.

For more details, please look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every requirement, so don't be put off if you don't match these perfectly.
