Legal Counsel - Insurance Sector
Astral Legal have partnered with a Global Insurance company as they are recruiting a Legal Counsel on a permanent basis.
Reporting into the Head of Legal you will be handling the following.
To provide legal advice and guidance to the UK Branch and its business units, on both the UK and worldwide, on a broad range of matters. This is a generalist Insurance role.

Astral Legal have partnered with a Global Insurance company as they are recruiting a Legal Counsel on a permanent basis.
Reporting into the Head of Legal you will be handling the following.
To provide legal advice and guidance to the UK Branch and its business units, on both the UK and worldwide, on a broad range of matters, including:

• Insurance contracts, technology / outsourcing contracts, insurance distribution and claims handling contracts, insurance remuneration structures, alternative risk transfer structures, reinsurance, agency / distribution, competition, and related areas of law.
• Provide advice on insurance regulation applicable to the UK Branch and its business units
• Provide advice and support on licensing requirements, mapping and maintenance.
• Work with Group Head Office functions on matters affecting the UK Branch in the UK and worldwide.
• Support the underwriting and claims teams on insurance transactions and disputes, including party-to-party negotiations.
• Provide advice regarding UK corporate governance.
• Work within and advise on effective implementation of group policies and procedures.
• Instruct, oversee and manage third party legal advisers, and associated costs and expenses.
• Provide legal training to UK Branch and personnel.
• Develop and maintain precedent documents, know-how and guidance.
• Advise on non-claims disputes.

The ideal Legal Counsel will be: * A minimum of a 4-6 -year PQE Qualified Lawyer (England & Wales)

• Candidates from In-House and Private Practice will be considered.
• Experience across the insurance market preferably covering corporate and commercial non-life business
• Exposure to international insurance programs and cross-border business.
• Exposure to information technology and outsourcing agreements, preferably relating to the insurance industry
