What we're looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated customer-focused individual to join NCUK as Legal Services Manager. This post sits within the Corporate Services Directorate and will provide legal input and administrative support in relation to commercial contracts with suppliers and partners.
Alongside advising on the development of new contracts supporting new business opportunities, the successful candidate will oversee the contracting process from end to end, from contract drafting / updating throughout negotiations and through to sign-off. Post-contract activity will include overseeing the administration of change control procedures and other legal issues related to the operations of NCUK.
The successful candidate will also take a leading role in the automation of the contract life-cycle management process aimed at improving the in-house legal service to key internal stakeholders.

What will you do?
This role will be responsible for providing in-house legal guidance in relation to the design, processing, and administration of commercial contracts within a business growth environment.
This will include highlighting the potential expiry of contracts, assisting the Business Development team with contract reviews, and drafting contract updates for business partners. You will need to be able to identify commercial risk during contract negotiations and advise or escalate accordingly, as well as assist with contract exit arrangements and provide in-house legal advice in relation to commercial dispute resolution. You will take ownership of the day-to-day administration of the NCUK portfolio of partner contracts with a view to continuous improvement.
What do you need?
To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
A degree level qualification or equivalent experience
Experience of providing legal support with commercial contract reviews
Experience of identifying risk and its implication to the business
Experience of tracking contract schedules and initiating contract renewals
Experience of proofreading large documents and other complex documentation for quality, consistency and content
