What you'll do
This role is ideal for someone with strong legal secretarial experience who thrives in a varied and fast-paced environment. You'll be supporting lawyers across multiple teams, including those handling complex property issues and high-value private wealth disputes.
In this role you'll:
Deliver proactive administrative and secretarial support to lawyers across the team.
Coordinate diaries, travel, and meetings to ensure smooth scheduling and preparation.
Manage matter openings, ID checks, and compliance tasks in line with internal and regulatory standards.
Assist with property transactions, including conducting searches and liaising with the Land Registry.
Draft, format, and maintain legal documents, correspondence, and templates.
Support financial processes such as billing, expenses, and credit control.
Handle calls and correspondence professionally, acting as a key point of contact for clients.
Contribute to business development through client research, event coordination, and marketing support.
Occasionally travel to our Bristol office (expenses covered) to support cross-office collaboration.
Play an active role in team operations, with opportunities to grow into a Lead LSA or supervisory role.

What we're looking for
We're looking for a confident and capable Legal Support Assistant who brings initiative, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. You'll thrive in this role if you can demonstrate:
Experience in a legal support or secretarial role, ideally within a professional services environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
Excellent organisational abilities, with confidence managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
A proactive, adaptable approach to anticipating and meeting the needs of the team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with legal practice management systems.
A solid understanding of compliance processes, including Lexcel and anti-money laundering requirements.
A genuine interest or background in property law
, particularly in rural land, landlord and tenant matters, title disputes, or development work is highly desirable.
A team-focused attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
Ideally, you'll be based within commuting distance of Exeter and comfortable with regular office attendance.
