The full-time starting salary is normally 24,814.00 per annum, with progression available in post to 26,970.00 per annum.

Library and Learning Resources are looking to appoint one full time

Library Experience Advisor

to join our Library Experience team.



The Library Experience team serves as the first point of contact for all library-related enquiries, playing a crucial role in student and staff support. The team provides assistance across a range of topics, from subject-specific help to resource discovery and referencing, while also ensuring that the library's study spaces are well-maintained and accessible. They operate across multiple campuses and offer both in-person support and the University's only 24/7 online chat service, ensuring that users have access to help whenever they need it. Their role in maintaining the physical environment, answering enquiries, supporting resource discovery, and signposting users to further help makes them a vital part of the Library and Learning Resources strategy.



You will be responsible for:


Providing first-line support at help desks within library spaces, through phone, email and online chats, such as handling library membership, borrower/loan queries and the use of library resources. Triaging enquiries to Library Experience Co-ordinators, Librarians, or university support services when appropriate. Assisting in the maintenance of library spaces, while developing, documenting, and implementing library procedures and performing administrative tasks related to Library Experience.

You will be educated to degree level and a 2023 or 2024 graduate, have proven experience in the delivering of high-quality customer services, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. You will also have good digital literacy with the ability to use work processing, spreadsheet and communication applications, e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Teams.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University.
