Job description

Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)? Are you passionate about helping learners build confidence, independence, and essential life skills? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!

We are looking for a Life Skills Support Worker to join our Enhanced Progression Pathway (EPP) team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners through outreach, transition, and on-site learning, helping them overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

Scope and responsibilities:

The Life Skills Support Worker plays a vital role in delivering the Enhanced Progression Pathway (EPP) for learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Working under the guidance of the Lecturer, you will provide high-quality outreach, transition, and on-site learning support that empowers learners to succeed.

This dynamic role involves working across home, community, and college settings to engage learners, implement tailored support plans, and maintain strong communication with families and professionals. A key focus is supporting smooth transitions from outreach into college attendance, offering emotional, practical, and behavioural support to build confidence and remove barriers.

You will contribute to the effective running of the programme by following agreed practices, assisting with transport and scheduling, and ensuring compliance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA) through accurate reporting and professional conduct.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering personalised 1:1 and small-group life skills support. Adapting activities to meet individual EHCP outcomes. Recording observations to inform planning, reviews, and progression decisions. Supporting learners' development of independence, communication, and personal growth. Preparing students for progression into NEST, mainstream pathways, or other positive destinations.

This role requires strong teamwork, active participation in specialist training, and strict adherence to safeguarding, health and safety, and quality assurance standards. You will help maintain accurate documentation and promote a safe, inclusive, and learner-focused environment across all outreach and on-site activities.

Our staff are integral to maintaining our passion and high-performance levels, and we reward our staff for this. Our benefits are designed to encourage a healthy work-life balance, and include:

25 days annual leave (pro-rata of fractional) including the option to purchase additional holiday days; 1 additional day's holiday for your birthday (does not have to be used on your birthday); 1 additional day's holiday for every 5 years served; Christmas Closure of up to 2 weeks in addition to annual leave entitlement; Access to a wealth of training, apprenticeships and funded higher education opportunities as well as dedicated training days; Local Government Pension Scheme Employer pension contributions of 18%; Subsidised fitness suite facility, onsite hair and beauty salon, access to a wide range of catering facilities, outdoor gym and free eyesight tests; Major supermarket and high street employee discount schemes; Life Assurance (if member of pension scheme); On Site Nursery (Mama Bears); Employee Assistance Programmes; Access to Blue Light Card membership; Discounted travel schemes.

Closing Date: 4th January 2026
