The Role: Live Events-Power Equipment Prep/De Prep Technician
This full-time position is based at our brand-new warehouse in Milton Keynes. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you'll play a vital role in the delivery of all IPS equipment for live events across the UK. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Power Equipment Technician to join our warehouse based technical team in the live events sector. This is a hands-on role focused on the preparation, testing, maintenance, and repair of power distribution equipment used across concerts, festivals, corporate events, and large-scale productions. Based primarily in the warehouse, you will play a key part in ensuring that all power systems and components are in top condition before they head out to site, contributing directly to the safe and successful delivery of live events.
Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to all company and industry health & safety regulations, always ensuring a safe working environment.
Prepare, test, clean and maintain all power distribution equipment including mains cabling (single and three phase) distro boxes, generators, transformers, and switchgear
Inspect and fault-find equipment; carry out basic repairs or escalate issues as needed to ensure compliance with statutory regulations including PAT testing.
Document and label equipment clearly for efficient site deployment; coil and tape cables to professional standards.
Provide technical support to crews ahead of projects, including clear documentation and labeling of all equipment and cables. Ensuring all cables are coiled and taped efficiently for fast efficient unload on site.
Use inventory management systems and barcode scanners to log equipment accurately in and out of the warehouse.
Monitor stock levels; report missing, damaged, or low-stock items to management promptly.
Maintain a clean organised and efficient workspace in the power prep /de prep and storage areas
Work in collaboration with all other departments to meet tight deadlines and project schedules.
Follow company standard practices and departmental procedures as detailed in the IPS Handbook.
Engage in regular training and development activities as agreed during performance reviews.
Essential Requirements:
Must hold a valid passport and be eligible to work in the UK.
You must be physically fit. This is a physical role which requires lots of manual handing. Bending, lifting, pulling and pushing will be required daily. A strong awareness of health and safety and manual handling best practices.
Previous experience working with power distribution or electrical equipment in a live events, theater or touring setting.
Basic electrical knowledge and understanding of single and three-phase systems.
PAT Testing qualification or experience (preferred but not essential).
Strong attention to detail and high standards for safety and equipment integrity.
A strong work ethic- self-motivated with the ability to use initiative.
Excellent time management skills and ability to work to deadlines and see a task through to completion.
Ability to follow technical instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Flexibility with shifts is essential -early starts, late finishes and some weekend work may be required.
Desirable but not essential
PAT Testing qualification or experience
City & Guilds 18th Edition or similar electrical qualification.
Forklift licence is an advantage but not essential- training can be provided.
Knowledge of temporary power systems for events.
Experience using inventory management systems or booking software.
