Job Description

Reporting to the Quarry Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating a loading shovel, as well as performing any manual labour duties necessary to perform general maintenance and cleaning duties.

As a Shovel Operator, you will play a key part in our daily operations, ensuring the safe and efficient loading of sand. You'll be responsible for operating mobile plant machinery, supporting site productivity and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

The successful candidate must hold a current driving licence and be willing to learn, with great communication skills and to able to work on their own and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:



Adhere to Mid Hants Ltd's high level of Health & Safety standards at all times

Operate a loading shovel to load sand and aggregates safely and efficiently

Manage stockpiles and assist with general duties

Identify and report any faults or defects in machinery or equipment to the Quarry Operations Manager.

Conduct basic maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts and components.

Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, ear defenders and safety boots.

Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, including the inside of the cab for your own personal health and protection, screening operation needs to be maintained to a high standard which will personally benefit you as well as production levels.

Comply with legal and regulatory requirements, such as health and safety regulations and environmental standards.

Communicate effectively with Quarry Manager, colleagues and contractors, reporting any safety concerns or issues that may arise during the course of work.

Skills and Qualifications:



Previous experience operating and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment.

Physically fit and able to perform manual labour tasks in outdoor environments.

Good communication skills and ability to work effectively on own and as part of a team.

Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.

Knowledge of health and safety regulations and environmental standards.

Experience working in a quarry or construction environment preferred but not essential.

Valid driving license and own transport.

Working Conditions:



The Shovel Operator will work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions. The role may require the individual to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet the needs of the business. The job requires the use of heavy machinery and equipment and the individual will need to wear appropriate PPE at all times.
