DB Cargo UK is currently recruiting for a Payroll Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract to join our People Service's department based at our Head Office in Doncaster.
As Payroll Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of our 4 weekly and monthly payroll cycles, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in all statutory and contractual pay and benefits obligations. You will manage and support a small team, driving a collaborative and customer focused culture within the Payroll and Benefits function.
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum of three days in the office each week. We are also open to considering candidates seeking part time hours.
What will you be doing?
As Payroll Manager, you will lead and develop the Payroll team, fostering a culture of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent customer service. You will ensure the efficient and compliant delivery of all payroll and benefits activities, in line with internal procedures and audit requirements.
You will oversee regular system audits and contribute to the ongoing improvement of payroll processes and tools. Managing relationships with third-party providers, you'll ensure all pay, pensions, and employee benefits are processed accurately and in compliance with tax and regulatory obligations.
A key part of the role includes maintaining robust process documentation, supporting internal financial audits, and ensuring timely submissions of statutory returns such as year-end tax and P11Ds. You'll also be responsible for the accurate processing of pension contributions and other authorised deductions.
In addition, you will support payroll-related projects and broader business initiatives. You'll manage the administration and delivery of employee benefits, including flexible benefits, long service awards and private medical insurance.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a professional who can demonstrate a strong track record of delivering high-quality transactional payroll services and knowledge of best practice payroll processes, including compliance and audit readiness.
Experience in leadership will be beneficial for the position.
We are looking for someone with a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across People Services and broader HR teams, while maintaining a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service.
A recognised payroll qualification, such as the CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) certification is required.

We are offering a salary of between 45,000 - 50,000 depending on experience based on a 37 hour per week contract.
