. The post involves providing high-quality medical care to children and young people across general paediatrics, including ward cover, ED assessments, and support for neonatal patients as required. The successful candidate will be expected to integrate smoothly into the existing team and participate in the departmental rota.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, safe, and effective clinical care to paediatric inpatients, outpatients, and acute admissions.
Assess, investigate, and manage children presenting with acute and chronic conditions.
Participate in the paediatrics middle-grade rota, including days, nights, and weekends (as required).
Support the on-call team in the management of emergency paediatric presentations.
Work collaboratively with consultants, junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with NHS and Trust standards.
Attend and contribute to departmental handovers, clinical meetings, and teaching sessions.
Provide supervision and guidance to junior medical staff.
Participate in audits, governance activities, and quality improvement projects.
Essential Requirements
Fully registered with the
GMC
with a licence to practise.
Valid NLS (Newborn Life Support) certification.
Previous NHS experience
at middle-grade (SPR/ST4+) level in Paediatrics.
Ability to work independently at registrar level across general paediatrics.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills
Experience in Neonatal Medicine at tier-2 level.
APLS or equivalent paediatric emergency course.
Participation in research, audit, or service improvement.
