Job Description

We are seeking a proactive, results-driven Warehouse Supervisor to join our high-performing team within a fast-paced, large-scale retail operation. This role is critical to the day-to-day success of our warehouse, ensuring that safety, compliance, performance, and team development are always at the forefront.

Shift:

07:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday

Location:

Chepstow (may also be required to cover Avonmouth sites)

Key Accountabilities

Health & Safety / Compliance

Ensure full compliance with all company and legal health & safety regulations. Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and safety briefings. Champion a culture of safety and well-being across all warehouse teams.

Performance Management

Drive productivity through clear KPIs, regular performance reviews, and coaching. Monitor and analyse operational data to optimise resource allocation and output. Address performance gaps promptly and constructively

Cost Management

Manage operational costs with a focus on labour efficiency and waste reduction. Analyse cost-to-serve data and identify areas for improvement. Proactively support budget management and forecasting activities.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, motivate, and develop a team of warehouse operatives and support staff. Foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture focused on accountability and results. Identify training needs and support individual growth plans.

Planning & Coordination

Plan and allocate labour based on volume forecasts and operational priorities. Liaise with transport, inventory, and customer service teams to ensure seamless flow of goods. Manage shift planning, holiday cover, and resource availability.

Customer Focus & Communication

Maintain a strong customer service mindset with an understanding of retail demands. Act as a key communication bridge between floor operations and senior leadership. Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) and customer expectations are consistently met.

Continuous Improvement (CI) & Innovation

Lead or participate in CI initiatives focused on lean processes, productivity, and quality. Encourage feedback and innovation from team members to drive positive change. Challenge established practices where improvements can be made.

Capabilities, Skills and Experience Required

Strong leadership and people management skills. Analytical and data-driven with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proactive, curious, and solutions-oriented mindset. Passion for improvement, efficiency, and team engagement. Flexible and resilient in a dynamic, high-volume environment. Strong understanding of warehouse operations in a retail context.

Experience & Qualifications

Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory or team leadership role (retail or logistics preferred). Good working knowledge of H&S and compliance in a warehouse setting. Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and performance tracking tools. Understanding of cost management and labour planning. Continuous Improvement or Lean Six Sigma knowledge (desirable). First aid or H&S certifications (preferred).
