Based at our Luton manufacturing plant you\'ll do just that. Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed, Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 400+ employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, canteen, vending machines and showers.

Job Summary

As the Logistics Team Leader you\'ll join the Supply Chain team reporting to the Logistics Manager, based at our Luton manufacturing site. You\'ll lead a team of 10 Material Handler\'s and Receiving Inspector\'s and responsible in managing, operating and controlling all physical flows within the site. This will include managing the teams and process effectiveness of delivery lineside, goods receipt, internal logistics and despatch.

Job Responsibilities

  • Day to day people management including activities such as training, career development, absence management, performance management, communicating daily updates
  • Be compliant with the Company\'s Environmental, Health & Safety and Energy procedures.
  • Manage the workload of the area internal movements and optimise the allocated resources.
  • Define and sets up the physical organisation of Lineside areas
  • Organise and control the internal transportation of material in order to assure the best service level and cost.
  • Being the interface between Supply Chain and Operations at shop floor level ensuring material movement is in accordance with operational expectations.
  • Develop and optimises all physical and information flows using Lean principles
  • Manage and controls the transactional flow
  • Ensure actual inventory accuracy and reliability (FIFO and Cycle counting etc)
  • Any other reasonable duties

Essential:
  • Demonstrable experience in Warehouse & Logistics processes to include Internal Flows and Warehousing, Inventory Management,
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of ERP systems
  • Competent in MS Office Suite
Desirable:
  • Experience of people management and meeting colleagues training requirements
  • Experience of SAP
  • Aerospace, Pharmaceutical or Automotive industry experience
  • APICS Basics of Supply Chain Management
  • Experience of maintaining risk assessment such as FLT, stacker pallets and freezer use, crane operations and performing dynamic risk assessment when required

This position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security Clearance (SC) due to the nature and responsibilities of the work carried out. In order for us to obtain an SC you usually need to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years to current date (but we do assess each case individually). You may still be considered if, for example:
  • you\'ve been serving overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of HM Government
  • you were studying abroad
  • you were living overseas with parents
