We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Lunchtime Supervisor. The role includes working as part of a team to ensure the welfare and safety of all students during lunchtimes.

Duties



Supervising students on school premises and grounds, as required To supervise students who use catering facilities at the school To use initiative in monitoring incidents occurring on the school premises and grounds To report any relevant matters or dangers to the designated people To ensure a safe environment To report all injuries to students to the designated person.

Qualifications



Previous experience of working with young people A calm but authoritative manner with students The ability to work well under pressure, work well in a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.

JOB DESCRIPTION



: Lunchtime Supervisor

Hours: 5 hours per week (Monday to Friday), term time only

Grade: Grade 4

Reports to: Deputy Headteacher

JOB PURPOSE



To take responsibility for the health and safety and security of children during the School lunch break.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY



Supervise pupils in the area in which they eat their lunch. Assist and supervise the clearing away and tidying of the eating area. Supervise pupils after lunch, either inside or outside of the school building, being especially vigilant as to the health, safety, welfare and security of the pupils within their care, and in accordance with the School Behaviour policy. Ensure reasonable behaviour and safe conduct of pupils by maintain good order and discipline, dealing as appropriate with all incidents of disorder ensuring that any disruption is minimised. Attend to accidents in the playground in accordance with the School procedure and guidelines on accidents and their treatment. Take appropriate independent action to minimise disruption in the event of misconduct as per the School Behaviour policy. Ensuring pupil's safety at lunch times by ensuring that they stay within permitted areas and are not in inappropriate parts of the school grounds and/or buildings. Offering comforts and support for children who are distressed by any situation.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE



Limited relevant experience is desirable but not essential. Good communication skills. Ability to follow and understand instructions and relevant procedures. An empathy with and understanding of children.

SPECIAL FACTORS:



(a) The postholder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the school.

(b) Expenses will be paid in accordance with the Local Conditions of Service.

(c) Undertake any other reasonable duties that are commensurate within the post as directed by the Headteacher.

(d) An enhanced DBS check is an essential requirement.
