Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled Machine Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of equipment within our facility. This includes machinery as well as conveyor belts and tables. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and reliability of all machinery and equipment. The Machine Maintenance Technician will also be able to make suggestions to ways of working that improves efficiency, accuracy, and or makes the task at hand easier for staff to fulfill, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities



Ensure line set ups are complete and settled down ready for when production is due to start. Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimise downtime. Diagnose and repair equipment using schematics and technical manuals. Operate and programme programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot automation issues effectively. Perform welding repairs and modifications as required to maintain equipment integrity. Read and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, and manuals to facilitate accurate repairs. Lead maintenance projects, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Maintain detailed maintenance records, logs, and reports for all work performed. Assist in the installation of new equipment or upgrades to existing systems. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment for all team members.

Requirements



Proven experience in maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting. Strong electrical experience with the ability to troubleshoot electrical systems effectively is preferred but not essential, as this is something that we could invest in. Mechanical knowledge including welding skills and familiarity with schematics. Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is highly desirable. Being confident and assertive enough to withstand pressures from the production department when something isn't working properly. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and reporting. Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Customer service orientation with the ability to collaborate across departments. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. GSCEs A - C grade in English and Mathematics required as a minimum. All other qualifications welcome. The ability to work shifts is essential. Shifts are usually 8 - 9 hours long and could start at any time over a 24 hour period. Usually shifts are 6am until 2pm, 2pm until 10pm and 10pm until 6am.
