Gomer Press is an established family owned business in rural Wales, working with many of the most prestigious publishers in the UK to produce beautiful books.

We are seeking a machine operator for our bindery department.

The role will involving learning and running a variety of machines in the bindery department such as a book sewing machine, folder, board cutter and edge printer.

The applicant must be comfortable with learning and operating machinery independently and have a desire to understand how they work in order to maintain and fix when necessary. Full training will be provided.

Attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to work quickly and consistently in a fast moving deadline driven environment. Mechanical problem solving skills are very helpful in dealing with complex equipment, and experience of running print finishing equipment is a definite advantage. However this role could suit someone with an engineering background or a school leaver.

Working hours:

Monday to Thursday 3pm - 12am

We would be happy to discuss the shift pattern and there may be some flexibility but it will remain a late shift.

On our website there is a walkthrough tour of the factory (based on google streetview) which gives a good feel for the working environment and our equipment.

Salary 24k-28k depending on skills and experience
