Purpose
The purpose of this role is to ensure the machines within the production area are served with the correct tooling and maintained to a high standard, ensuring the delivery of the production schedule by leading their team through supervision, instruction, and training. This is an active team player role and will be expected to run a line during spells of absence and holiday cover.
Role and Responsibilities
General
Follow the company processes and procedures in relation to food safety, allergen control, protective clothing and maintain good manufacturing practices throughout the shift
Follow the clean as you go policy and maintain high standards of personal hygiene
Clean the production, peripheral areas, and equipment within those areas in line with site standards and customer specification
Deliver high standards of quality ensuring products are produced in line with site standards and customer specification
Adhere to plan and keep the production downtime to a minimum
Complete product changeovers in a timely manner
Perform checks such to a high standard
Assist in machinery fault finding and problem solving
Liaise with engineers and team leaders with regard to lines performance and issues
Complete and submit documentation accurately and in a timely manner to ensure traceability is maintained
Minimise the environmental impact by following the company waste disposal procedures
Support new product development process
Meet the relevant KPIs and targets assigned by line manager
Assist in day-to-day operation and provide cover and support to other operatives if necessary
Weigh, seal, and pack retail finished goods to the customer specifications and company procedures
Complete mandatory CCP checks ensuring products are within tolerances/specification
Skilled and knowledgeable in the following Machinery: Multi-head Weighers, Depositors, Metal Detectors, Check Weighers, Tray Sealing and Vertical Bagging machines
Deliver the company standard KPI: UPM, CCP, Downtime, Give-a-way, Re-Work and Line Hygiene
Report and escalate faulty machinery
Operate all Machinery to the Manufacturer guide lines
Ownership and fully responsible for the Line Equipment/Machinery
Completing mandatory Pre-Operational Checks, never use faulty Machinery
Health and Safety
Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner in accordance with instructions and to comply with safety rules/procedures/ regulations and report any unsafe practice or condition
Report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence, or dangerous condition to the line manager
Obtain and use the correct tools/equipment for the work and do not use any that are unsafe or damaged
Report any tolls/equipment issues
Ensure that all guards are securely fixed, and that all safety equipment and personal protective clothing/equipment provided are used
Not to operate any plant or equipment unless authorised and trained
Notes
Due to the development and changing nature of production requirements within the business it is essential to be flexible and to carry out occasional or new tasks as required
In addition to these functions, employees may be assigned to other tasks and will be expected to perform any reasonable requests
