Summary



A machine technician apprenticeship involves setting up, operating, and maintaining various machines to produce precision components for industries like aerospace, automotive, and construction. Apprentices learn to interpret technical drawings, plan activities, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.

Annual wage

14,722.50 a year

The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.

Hours

Monday to Friday, between 9am-5pm.

37.5 hours a week

42 Months (This time can be cut down if apprentice has prior knowledge or completes work quickly)

Work



As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work



Interpret technical drawings: Learn to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate production Perform quality checks: Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on produced parts to ensure they meet specifications Maintenance and troubleshooting: Help with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery to prevent downtime Follow safety protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment

Training



An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
