We are seeking an experienced part time Machinist to work in our metallurgical laboratory. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our Workshop Assistants and Lab Technicians and ensuring quality control within our laboratory environment. This position requires a person who is experienced in using manual and CNC Milling machines, can learn new skills quickly and works well as part of a team.
Duties
Preparing test samples for laboratory tests, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
Ensure test pieces are received correctly through our goods in system and labelled and separated, to ensure impartiality and correct reporting of results.
Perform quality control checks on samples and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Assist in the preparation of laboratory materials and reagents for various tests.
Collaborate with the rest of the team to meet customer deadlines and offer ideas for improvement of processes.
Maintain a clean and organised Workshop and laboratory environment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
Qualifications
Some workshop or Metallurgical Laboratory experience is preferred, but not essential.
Previous use of manual and CNC milling machines, industrial saws and grinders etc.
Experience with quality control processes within a laboratory setting is desirable.
Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is a plus.
Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
